Forest Fire at Nuuksio National Park
On July 26th 2010 there was a forest fire at the National Park of Nuuksio. It had been extremely hot for the last four weeks, it wasn't a surprise that the fire got it's onset from an abandoned campfire.
About six hectares of soil burned during the night.
When I arrived there, the sight was quite surreal, not that much fire anywhere, just smoke rising from the ground.
Fires were mostly small ones.
But when firemen were needed, it didn't take long for them to use the hose..
A nearby lake was used as a water source.
When the wind got stronger, so did fire.
Fighting fire takes its toll.
